Why go to the Dentist?

Going to the dentist is an important element is staying physically healthy. So many issues have been connected to deteriorated dental health, that you’re risking more than just a lecture about flossing—you’re risking your entire well being!

The dental professionals of SmilesInc are caring and compassionate. They won’t judge your dental problems or give you lectures. They only want to help you and your family to maintain beautiful healthy smiles for a lifetime.

So, why is it important that you go to the dentist?

Prevent gum disease.
Gum disease is the leading cause of adult tooth loss. The more serious your gum disease, the more it negatively impacts both your oral and overall health. Gum disease ravages your gums and teeth, sometimes to the point where patients experience pain, loss of bone, and worsening health issues. Gum disease has been linked to numerous systemic illnesses, including pancreatic cancer, diabetes, and lung disease.
Our periodontal specialist, Dr. David Samuels, is here to assist you.

Discover early signs of cavities.
Tooth decay, also called dental caries or cavities, is caused by acid-forming bacteria that dissolve the enamel of your teeth, causing holes and dark spots. If not treated in the early stages, decay will eventually reach the nerve and the bacteria will infect the interior tissues. Gum disease, lack of consistent oral hygiene, and poor diets can increase the risks of getting cavities. The earlier decay is discovered and treated, the less likely you’ll need root canal therapy or extraction.
Our general denitst, Dr. Steven Cardwell, is here to assist you.

Check for oral cancer.
It is important to find oral cancer as early as possible when it can be treated more successfully.  An oral cancer examination can detect early signs of cancer. The exam is painless and takes only a few minutes.  Your regular dental check-up is an excellent opportunity to have the exam. During the exam, your dentist or dental hygienist will check your face, neck, lips, and entire mouth for possible signs of cancer.  Some parts of the pharynx are not visible during an oral cancer exam. Talk to your dentist about whether a specialist should check your pharynx.
Our oral & maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Akbar Lightbourne, is assist to help you.

Reduce the likelihood of dental emergencies.
When you see your dentist at least once every six months, it’s much easier for the doctor to detect problems and correct them before they turn into emergencies. It’s far easier on your comfort level and your pocketbook to deal with issues at the onset, rather than later on when treatments become complex and expensive.

Maintain good oral health.
Regular checkups are a vital part of your oral healthcare plan. Not only should you brush, floss, and rinse with fluoridated products, but you should also see your dentist to ensure your oral health stays in excellent condition. Dental hygienists can professionally clean your teeth, doctors can diagnose and treat a variety of dental conditions, and you can feel good about taking care of yourself and your family.

The dentist and specialists of SmilesInc are here to assist you in your oral health and well being.
